The Class of 2026听肠别濒别产谤补迟别诲听with heartfelt emotion and jubilation听during this year鈥檚 Senior Awards Brunch听鈥� some of which was exuded by the proud faculty and staff听飞丑辞鈥檝别听journeyed with them these past four years.听

The听annual听brunch in Alliot was an awards banquet听during which听a handful听of听students and student mentors were recognized,听and all were lauded for their听contributions and personal growth.听听

President Richard Plumb encouraged graduates to carry the close relationships they made听at Saint Michael鈥檚 College听with them.听听

He听reminded the听graduates: 鈥淵ou chose St. Mike鈥檚鈥�and St. Mike鈥檚 chose you back.听Saint Michael鈥檚 is a better place because of you.鈥�听

Heidi St. Peter听鈥�96, who was the听class鈥檚 Purposeful Learning program director,听offered remarks to the听class, which ended up being the inaugural cohort for that program during the class’s first year. She cheekily praised them for their critiques of the program 鈥� being willing to advocate for change as they worked together to mold it into something meaningful, turning complaints into action.听听

She said the future doesn鈥檛 always unfold in an expected way, saying,听鈥渓ife will give you opportunities that surprise you鈥�remind you what you鈥檙e capable of.鈥�听

One graduate,听Nick Wracker听鈥�26,听received two awards but听wasn鈥檛听present for the reading of the second one. He was听demonstrating听the听very听selflessness he was being听awarded for, according to Dean of Students Dawn Ellinwood, by being there for a teammate in a time of need.听听

Senior Class president Ashley Silveira noted that while only a few received awards, all have had a profound impact听on one another and the College. These were some of the qualities that distinguish the Class of 2026.听听

The Senior Awards Brunch is one of the听major听activities during senior week, culminating with Commencement听on Sunday, May 10.听听

Elizabeth A. Durick Award鈥�听听

This award is presented to a senior who has made a significant contribution to the Christian goals of Saint Michael鈥檚 College.鈥�听

Frank G. Mahady Memorial Award鈥�听听

This award is presented to the graduating senior who best听demonstrates听the qualities of moral leadership and social justice, which were important to Judge Frank G. Mahady, and who听demonstrates听the potential for making a significant contribution to the causes of peace and justice.鈥�听

Saint Michael鈥檚 Award鈥�听听

This award is presented to a member of the senior class who, over the past four years, has been involved听for听the betterment of the class and the community. The award signifies an unselfish commitment to others and to the development of community at Saint Michael鈥檚 College.听

Dr. Marie Henault Award听

Dr. Marie Henault was a pioneering leader at Saint Michael鈥檚 College. One of just a few women faculty on campus, she became chair of听the English Department in 1969.听With this, Dr. Henault was the first woman to lead an academic department. This award is presented to a student who has been a pioneering leader within our community, recognizing their efforts both on- and off-campus during their time as a Saint Michael鈥檚 College student. This award recognizes pioneering leadership, dedication, and positive contributions to the Saint Michael鈥檚 community and beyond.听

Roger F. Keleher Memorial Awards 鈥�听听

These awards are presented to outstanding scholar-athletes who are varsity letter winners and have听maintained听high scholastic averages. Roger Keleher was a 1915 graduate from Springfield, Massachusetts, who himself was a scholar and athlete. 鈥�听

John D. Donoghue Award鈥�听听

This award is presented to the student, faculty member, or administrator who has provided听strong support, leadership, and commitment to one of the college鈥檚 student publications. The award is named for John D. Donoghue 鈥�32, Christian, gentleman, journalist, and teacher. Donoghue founded the student newspaper The听Michaelman听in 1947. He also founded the yearbook and served as the first chair of the Saint Michael鈥檚 College听Journalism听D别辫补谤迟尘别苍迟.鈥�听

Rev. Gerald E. Dupont, S.S.E., Award 鈥�听听

The award recipient听demonstrates听dedication to the ideals of courage, vision, devotion, and faith upon which Saint Michael鈥檚 College was founded. This award is named for former president of the College, Rev. Gerald E. Dupont, S.S.E. 鈥�听

Donald Sutton Community Service Awards 鈥� 听

This award is presented in recognition of Don Sutton鈥檚 twenty-six years of service and contributions to the Saint Michael鈥檚 community as the founder of the Saint Michael鈥檚 Fire and Rescue program. This award is given to a senior who has exemplified Sutton鈥檚听high ideals听and level of commitment.鈥�听
